As the national voice of State and Interstate water programs, the Association of Clean Water Administrators (ACWA) strives to protect and restore watersheds to achieve “clean water everywhere for everyone.â€ Their previous website was locked into a flash-based structure which created difficulties for their staff and their members.
In order to make the website a sustainable & maintainable communication channel that supports member needs, we worked with the ACWA team to make sure that the website demonstrates relevancy.

To make the website a sustainable & maintainable communication channel that supports member needs, we worked with the ACWA team in content strategy sessions to make sure that the website demonstrates relevancy.
Some examples of ideas that came out of those sessions include:
- Moving their Weekly Wrap newsletter from a PDF and Word document to a blog post so that it can be read across multiple devices;
- making sure that events are prominent on the homepage so that members are aware of what’s coming up;
- and providing the ability to the ACWA team members to highlight key documents, even if they are from a few months ago.
Along with the better functionality, we wanted the design to be inviting and remind audiences of the importance of clean water.
Beautiful imagery of water sources around the country, supplied by ACWA members, lightened up what could be a traditionally text-heavy experience.
