Overview
ECOS Results is designed to communicate state stories of public health and environmental progress to the public and other audiences.
The web-based tool displays measures within four fundamental areas that help tell the story of state environmental progress: air healthy to breathe, healthy and thriving communities, less and properly managed waste, and water clean and available for all uses.

Voices across the country
We worked with a core team at ECOS, environmental office representatives across 16 states, and the U.S. EPA to create visualizations that tell an equilateral story about environmental and public health progress. While each state may work differently to address their specific environmental needs, the team identified key audiences so that ecosresults.org could talk about the results with one voice.

Open-source Visualizations
The data from the states needed to presented in a consistent, easy to digest manner. This is a case of “simple is good” – bar charts, column charts, and line charts would meet our needs. The Highcharts framework, along with some additional jquery, let us create visualizations that can be seen on desktop and mobile devices.

“ECOS has worked with Rocketkoi in the past and has been impressed with the exceptional quality of work provided by Rocketkoi. So, when ECOS was looking for a partner to help us design a website and infographic tool that could help communicate stories of state environmental progress, we looked no further than Rocketkoi. The roll-out of ECOSResults.org was made possible with Rocketkoi expertise in going from design to launch while allowing easy collaboration throughout the process. Rocketkoi not only built the website, but also worked with over 16 states to develop interactive infographics that best reflected the stories of environmental progress in each state. We look forward to continued work with them as we add more states to the site!”
