Safe Shores is “a direct service nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and working directly with child victims of sexual and physical abuse in the District of Columbia.” The organization plays an important part in the lives of children and families in DC and needed a website that reflected who they are and how they work.
The previous website, built in Adobe Muse, prevented them from delivering essential information to the community while also creating a hindrance for donors and supporters. Thanks to discovery and content strategy meetings that involved the entire staff, we were able to help them create a voice and tone on the website that was welcoming without being childish, and informative without being overwhelming.
The “What to Expect” area of the website is the result of those same strategy sessions. We want to help the community better understand what to expect when they have an appointment at Safe Shores, so we presented it in a straight-forward manner.
